This natural, untreated ruby, weighing 1.99 ct, was carved from a rough crystal weighing 13.54 ct. Its beautiful pinkish-red hue gives it a warm, elegant, and very expressive appearance.
The color appears rich and vibrant across large areas, while the stone also features semi-transparent zones that lend its interior additional depth. Depending on the angle of the light, certain sections appear lighter and more open, while other areas appear more compact and more intensely colored. It is precisely this interplay that makes the ruby so interesting and multifaceted.
The crystal contains visible natural black inclusions. These are clearly part of the stone’s unique appearance and attest to its natural formation. Despite these inclusions, the pinkish-red color remains distinctly present and defines the overall impression.
The oval cut gives the 1.99-ct ruby a harmonious, classic silhouette and enhances its elegant appearance. The soft shape gives the color plenty of room and allows the various transparent and more heavily structured areas to interact harmoniously.
Its untreated condition is particularly noteworthy. The color, transparency, and internal characteristics have not been altered by any subsequent treatment. As a result, the ruby reveals its natural color and internal structure in their purest form.
It is precisely the combination of its warm pink hue, semi-transparent depth, natural inner character, and elegant oval shape that gives this 1.99-ct ruby a distinctive, characterful presence that immediately reveals its untreated origin.
The Ruby originates from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source through our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.
(*)To the best of our knowledge and according to information from our local partners, the gemstone is untreated.
For an additional fee, we’d be happy to arrange for a certificate from an independent gemological institute to be issued for this gemstone.
Images may vary depending on monitor settings. The videos of the stone were recorded without filters or color correction.
The true beauty of a gemstone is only revealed when you hold it in your hand. With every slight movement, the angle of the light, the reflections, and the play of colors change, giving each stone its own unique vibrancy.
Interesting Facts About Ruby
Ruby is the red gemstone variety of the mineral corundum and thus belongs to the same mineral family as sapphire. Its color is primarily due to traces of chromium and ranges from light pinkish red to vivid ruby red and deep, intense red hues. Particularly beautiful rubies combine a rich color with good transparency and a vibrant brilliance, allowing the red to sparkle anew with every movement.
Natural growth features and inclusions are characteristic traits of a natural ruby and can provide important clues about its natural formation. At the same time, clarity - along with color, transparency, cut, and carat weight - is one of the key quality factors. Since many rubies are heated to improve their color or appearance, untreated or unheated rubies with attractive natural color are particularly sought after.
Transparent rubies with an intense, balanced red color, beautiful depth of color, and a vibrant play of light are particularly prized. High-quality, larger specimens with natural color and no treatment are rare. The quality and value of a ruby depend primarily on color, transparency, clarity, cut, carat weight, and treatment; however, future value appreciation cannot be predicted and is always determined by quality, rarity, and demand.
