This natural, untreated Multicolor tourmaline, weighing 2.64 ct, was cut from a rough crystal weighing 32.20 ct. It originated from the same original crystal as its 1.52 ct octagon-cut sister stone and a 3.06 ct pink-colored sister stone with a trillion cut. Within this small group, it displays a striking bicolor effect ranging from vivid pink and olive green to light green.
Between the two color zones lies a light, soft-looking transition that clearly highlights the zoning and lends the stone a special depth. Depending on the viewing angle, the green appears either richer and earthier or lighter and fresher, while the pink provides a warm, vivid contrast.
The tourmaline is not transparent and exhibits distinct natural characteristics. Its impact therefore stems less from classic brilliance than from the intensity of its color zones and the fascinating interplay between the different areas.
The oval cut frames this natural color composition in a subtle way and clearly highlights the two-tone effect.
An expressive multicolor tourmaline with strong natural zoning, distinct depth, and an unmistakable color contrast between pink and green.
The origin of these gemstones: Rough crystal, 32.20 ct
The following gemstones were cut from this rough crystal:
• Multicolor tourmaline, octagon cut, TB17-2 – 1.51 ct
• Multicolor tourmaline, oval cut, TB17-3 – 2.64 ct
• Violet-pink tourmaline, trillion cut, TB17-1 – 3.06 ct
Total yield: 7.22 ct – approximately 22.4% of the rough weight
The Tourmaline originates from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source through our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.
(*)To the best of our knowledge and according to information from our local partners, the gemstone is untreated.
For an additional fee, we’d be happy to arrange for a certificate from an independent gemological institute to be issued for this gemstone.
Images may vary depending on monitor settings. The videos of the stone were recorded without filters or color correction.
The true beauty of a gemstone is only revealed when you hold it in your hand. With every slight movement, the angle of the light, the reflections, and the play of colors change, giving each stone its own unique vibrancy.
Interesting Facts About Multicolor Tourmaline
Multicolor tourmalines feature multiple naturally occurring color zones within a single crystal. Particularly attractive are combinations of rose, pink, green, olive green, or lighter, nearly colorless transitions.
These different colors develop during crystal growth and can appear in the cut stone as clearly defined areas, soft transitions, or multilayered color structures. As a result, every multicolor tourmaline has a unique pattern that varies significantly from stone to stone.
Depending on the orientation of the rough crystal and the choice of cut, these color zones can appear very graphic, flowing, or almost three-dimensional. It is precisely this natural multicolored appearance that gives these tourmalines their special appeal.
Multicolor tourmalines often exhibit more distinct natural characteristics than uniformly colored stones. Therefore, when evaluating them, the focus is not solely on transparency and clarity, but above all on the harmony of the colors, the clarity of the zoning, and the stone’s appearance in the light.
This results in colored gemstones whose character stems directly from the structure of the original crystal - each with its own unique combination of color, structure, and depth.
