This exceptionally beautiful, natural, and untreated tourmaline, weighing 0.68 ct, was crafted from a 4.09 ct rough crystal. Its intense play of colors between blue and blue-green gives it a striking, vibrant appearance. Overall, its color impression is defined by a greenish-blue, lagoon-like hue that transitions into significantly darker shades in places.

Depending on the angle of light and the viewing angle, cooler blue and blue-green color tones stand out to varying degrees. Lighter, luminous sections alternate with deeper, darker blue-green tones, giving the stone a particularly interesting three-dimensional color effect. It is precisely this contrast that lends its lagoon-like character additional depth and expressiveness.

Added to this is a beautiful, brilliant play of light. The precise faceting effectively captures the incoming light and creates bright reflections that stand out clearly against the darker areas of color. This results in a lively interplay between light and depth, which allows the various shades of blue and blue-green to emerge anew time and again.

Natural growth features are visible within the crystal. They are part of this gemstone’s unique appearance and reflect its natural formation. Despite their visibility, the intense play of color and light remains the defining feature and gives the stone its unmistakable character.

The superbly executed baguette cut highlights the tourmaline’s clean, linear geometry. Its precisely cut facets give it an elegant, almost architectural design while beautifully highlighting the striking contrast between its bright and darker shades.

From its documented origin as a 4.09-carat rough crystal to the finished gemstone, this tourmaline exemplifies meticulous cutting planning, precise craftsmanship, and the authentic individuality of a natural colored gemstone. Its lagoon-like greenish-blue hue, the fascinating interplay between lighter and darker shades of blue and greenish-blue, its brilliant play of light, and its natural growth characteristics make it a particularly distinctive piece in the Bennad Collection.

The Green-blue Tourmaline originates from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source through our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.

(*)To the best of our knowledge and according to information from our local partners, the gemstone is untreated.

For an additional fee, we’d be happy to arrange for a certificate from an independent gemological institute to be issued for this gemstone.

Images may vary depending on monitor settings. The videos of the stone were recorded without filters or color correction.

The true beauty of a gemstone is only revealed when you hold it in your hand. With every slight movement, the angle of the light, the reflections, and the play of colors change, giving each stone its own unique vibrancy.

Interesting Facts About Lagoon Tourmaline

Lagoon tourmalines captivate with their vibrant play of colors between blue and green, reminiscent of the clear hues of tropical lagoons. Their color spectrum ranges from light aqua blue and turquoise to intense teal and luminous blue-green. Stones with a clear, open color, high transparency, and pronounced luminosity are particularly prized.

The term “Lagoon” is a trade name for blue-green or green-blue tourmalines and primarily describes their characteristic color appearance. Depending on the angle of the light, individual shades may stand out more prominently, giving the gemstone a vibrant, ever-changing appearance. A precise cut further accentuates this play of color and impressively highlights the tourmaline’s natural brilliance.

With their fresh, elegant color, Lagoon tourmalines are among the most striking members of the tourmaline family and are ideal for both exclusive jewelry and discerning gemstone collections.
