Cut shape: pear
Treatment: untreated*
Origin: Southern Africa

This unique, natural, and untreated tourmaline - weighing 3.51 ct and featuring an exceptionally pronounced color-zone structure - was carved from a rough crystal weighing 11.52 ct.

At its center lies a vivid pink area, framed by a noticeably lighter border. In places, this border exhibits an almost light green hue. Combined with its elongated teardrop shape, this creates an unusual, almost eye-like effect that gives this stone its very own character.

Its transparency is limited by clearly visible natural features. Nevertheless, when held up to the light, the tourmaline consistently displays delicate reflections and an interesting sense of depth. Particularly striking is the contrast between the warm pink at its center and the significantly lighter outer color zones.

Its beauty lies less in perfect clarity than in the crystal’s natural pattern. Color, structure, and cut combine here to create an appearance that is distinctly different from classic monochromatic tourmalines.

We refer to this stone internally as the “Eye of Horus” - not because of any symbolic meaning, but because of its unusual, almost eye-shaped color composition.

A distinctive multicolored tourmaline for lovers of extraordinary natural formations and stones whose character stems precisely from their individuality.

The Tourmaline originates from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source through our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.

(*)To the best of our knowledge and according to information from our local partners, the gemstone is untreated.

For an additional fee, we’d be happy to arrange for a certificate from an independent gemological institute to be issued for this gemstone.

Images may vary depending on monitor settings. The videos of the stone were recorded without filters or color correction.

The true beauty of a gemstone is only revealed when you hold it in your hand. With every slight movement, the angle of the light, the reflections, and the play of colors change, giving each stone its own unique vibrancy.

Interesting Facts About Watermelon Tourmaline

Watermelon tourmaline is a particularly distinctive multicolored variety of tourmaline. It owes its name to the characteristic interplay of pink to reddish and green color zones, which is reminiscent of the flesh and rind of a watermelon. These color zones form during the natural growth of the crystal due to changes in chemical composition, making each stone a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

Natural inclusions are characteristic features of a natural gemstone. They can provide clues about its natural origin and help distinguish it from synthetic or imitation materials. At the same time, clarity - along with color, cut, and carat weight - is one of the key factors that determine a gemstone’s quality and value.

Watermelon tourmalines are particularly prized for their clearly defined, harmoniously balanced color zones, good transparency, and a precise cut that effectively highlights the natural color gradient. Larger specimens with intense color, high clarity, and a balanced distribution of color zones are available only in limited quantities and attract particular attention from collectors and enthusiasts of exceptional colored gemstones.

The quality and value of a watermelon tourmaline depend primarily on the attractiveness of its color gradient, transparency, clarity, cut, and carat weight. However, future value appreciation cannot be predicted and is always determined by quality, rarity, and demand.
