Aquamarine

This natural, untreated aquamarine, weighing 0.94 ct, was crafted from the same 9.00 ct rough crystal as its sister stone. Through careful alignment of the crystal and an excellently executed cushion cut, a gemstone of exceptional clarity and harmonious elegance was created.

Its delicate, slightly pleochroic color gives this aquamarine a particularly charming allure. Depending on the viewing angle, subtle shades ranging from greenish-blue to a clear, light blue are revealed. Combined with its flawless transparency, this creates a vibrant yet exceptionally elegant appearance.

A distinctive feature of this aquamarine is its pronounced direction-dependent color effect. Depending on the angle of light and the viewing angle, the crystal displays varying intensities ranging from a delicate, cool ice blue to a surprisingly deep, glass-like blue. Especially when viewed in transmitted light, a fascinating depth of color emerges, giving the impression that the blue is glowing from within the gemstone. This unique interplay of transparency, pleochroism, and internal light diffusion gives the stone an exceptionally vibrant and three-dimensional appearance.

Why is the yield so low?
When cutting a gemstone, the focus is not on achieving the highest possible final weight, but on achieving the best possible combination of color, clarity, brilliance, and proportions. A large portion of the original crystal is intentionally removed to bring out the gemstone’s natural beauty to the fullest.

The aquamarine comes from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source by our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.
