With its delicate ice-blue play of color, high transparency, and intense brilliance, this natural and untreated 1.17 ct aquamarine possesses an exceptionally clear and light radiance. Particularly captivating are its light blue to almost glass-like reflections, which constantly dance through the stone as it moves.

Cut from a rough crystal weighing 11.47 ct, this aquamarine has a very clear, eye-clean appearance. Light can travel through the stone almost unimpeded, creating a vibrant interplay of bright reflections, transparent areas, and cool ice-blue hues.

This stone belongs to a group of our aquamarines with a distinctly direction-dependent color effect. Depending on the viewing angle and lighting, a subtle pleochroic effect emerges, ranging from very delicate ice blue to slightly more intense blue reflections. In some places, this creates areas of light that appear almost glass-like, lending the aquamarine additional spatial depth.

The oval cut enhances this effect particularly beautifully. Its facets create numerous bright reflections of light and make the stone appear exceptionally brilliant and vibrant when in motion. The combination of transparency, delicate color, and clear light play gives it an almost weightless effect.

From the same rough crystal, another pear-cut aquamarine weighing 1.71 ct was also created—AQ18/2. While the former appears somewhat more intense in its ice-blue color, the smaller oval cut stands out particularly for its strong brilliance, high transparency, and numerous light reflections.

An exceptionally clear, flawless aquamarine with a delicate icy blue hue, high transparency, and intense brilliance - characterized by a subtle pleochroic color effect and light blue to nearly glassy reflections.

The Origin of this gemstone: Rough crystal: 11.47 ct

Cut from this rough crystal:

• Oval aquamarine, AQ18/1 – 1.17 ct
• Pear-shaped aquamarine, AQ18/2 – 1.71 ct

Total yield: 2.88 ct – 25.1% of the rough weight

Why is the yield so low?
When cutting a gemstone, the focus is not on achieving the highest possible final weight, but on achieving the best possible combination of color, clarity, brilliance, and proportions. A large portion of the original crystal is intentionally removed to bring out the gemstone’s natural beauty to the fullest.

The aquamarine comes from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source by our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.

(*)To the best of our knowledge and according to information from our local partners, the gemstone is untreated.

For an additional fee, we'd be happy to arrange for a certificate from an independent gemological institute to be issued for this gemstone.

Images may vary depending on monitor settings. The videos of the stone were recorded without filters or color correction.

The true beauty of a gemstone is only revealed when you hold it in your hand. With every slight movement, the angle of the light, the reflections, and the play of colors change, giving each stone its own unique vibrancy.

Interesting Facts About Aquamarine

Aquamarine is the blue to bluish-green variety of the mineral beryl. Its color spectrum ranges from a very delicate, pale blue to intense, deep blue hues. Aquamarines with a rich, pure blue color are often referred to in the trade as “Santa Maria aquamarines” and are among the most sought-after examples of this gemstone.

Natural inclusions are characteristic features of a natural gemstone. They can provide clues about its natural origin and help distinguish it from synthetic or imitation materials. At the same time, clarity - along with color, cut, and carat weight - is one of the key factors that determine a gemstone’s quality and value.

High-quality aquamarines also attract the attention of collectors and buyers who view rare colored gemstones as long-term assets. Stones with an intense blue color, high transparency, very good clarity, and an excellent cut are in particularly high demand. Exceptional specimens of this quality are available in limited quantities and have attracted increasing market attention in recent years. However, future performance cannot be predicted and always depends on quality, rarity, and demand.
