With its delicate ice-blue hue, very high transparency, and intense brilliance, this natural and untreated 0.50 ct aquamarine possesses a particularly clear, light, and vibrant appearance. Light blue and almost glass-like reflections give it a surprisingly striking play of light despite its small size.
Cut from a 5.00 ct rough crystal, the stone exhibits very slight natural characteristics that are barely noticeable upon normal inspection. As a result, its transparency remains very open, allowing the color and play of light to shine through almost unimpeded.
Depending on the viewing angle and lighting, the delicate ice-blue hue appears in slightly varying intensities. This consistently creates bright, glass-like reflections that travel through the stone, lending it a beautiful sense of depth.
The oval cut enhances this effect with its lively faceting. When moved, the stone produces an intense sparkle that makes it appear significantly larger and more striking than its weight would initially suggest.
Another aquamarine, weighing 0.61 ct and featuring a pear cut - AQ25/2 - was also crafted from the same rough crystal. Both sister stones share the same origin and delicate ice-blue color, yet each develops its own unique play of light due to their different cuts.
A small, very transparent aquamarine with a delicate ice-blue hue, intense brilliance, and light blue to glassy reflections - its very slight natural characteristics are virtually unnoticeable in the overall appearance.
The origin of this gemstone: Rough crystal: 5.00 ct
Cut from this rough crystal:
• Oval aquamarine, AQ25/1 – 0.50 ct
• Pear-shaped aquamarine, AQ25/2 – 0.61 ct
Total yield: 1.11 ct – 22.2% of the rough weight
Why is the yield so low?
When cutting a gemstone, the focus is not on achieving the highest possible final weight, but on achieving the best possible combination of color, clarity, brilliance, and proportions. A large portion of the original crystal is intentionally removed to bring out the gemstone’s natural beauty to the fullest.
The aquamarine comes from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source by our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.
(*)To the best of our knowledge and according to information from our local partners, the gemstone is untreated.
For an additional fee, we'd be happy to arrange for a certificate from an independent gemological institute to be issued for this gemstone.
Images may vary depending on monitor settings. The videos of the stone were recorded without filters or color correction.
The true beauty of a gemstone is only revealed when you hold it in your hand. With every slight movement, the angle of the light, the reflections, and the play of colors change, giving each stone its own unique vibrancy.
Interesting Facts About Aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue to bluish-green variety of the mineral beryl. Its color spectrum ranges from a very delicate, pale blue to intense, deep blue hues. Aquamarines with a rich, pure blue color are often referred to in the trade as “Santa Maria aquamarines” and are among the most sought-after examples of this gemstone.
Natural inclusions are characteristic features of a natural gemstone. They can provide clues about its natural origin and help distinguish it from synthetic or imitation materials. At the same time, clarity - along with color, cut, and carat weight - is one of the key factors that determine a gemstone’s quality and value.
High-quality aquamarines also attract the attention of collectors and buyers who view rare colored gemstones as long-term assets. Stones with an intense blue color, high transparency, very good clarity, and an excellent cut are in particularly high demand. Exceptional specimens of this quality are available in limited quantities and have attracted increasing market attention in recent years. However, future performance cannot be predicted and always depends on quality, rarity, and demand.
