This exquisite natural and untreated iolite, weighing 0.37 ct, was crafted from a 4.77 ct rough crystal. Its unique play of color ranges from clear blue to deep violet-blue, giving the small stone a distinctly fresh, elegant, and vibrant appearance.

The iolite is eye-clean and very transparent. This keeps its color open and clear, while allowing light to penetrate deep into the crystal. Depending on the angle of the light, cooler blue or deeper violet-blue hues come to the fore, causing the stone to appear slightly different each time it moves.

Its exquisite brilliance is particularly captivating. Bright reflections run along the facets, creating luminous accents within the intense blue-violet color effect. Despite its light weight, this gives the stone a surprisingly striking and lively appearance.

The precisely executed baguette cut highlights the iolite’s clean, linear shape. Its elongated geometry draws the eye along the stone and beautifully showcases both its high transparency and the interplay between blue and violet-blue.

It is precisely the combination of small size, high clarity, and vibrant play of light that gives this iolite its special charm. The clean lines of the baguette cut create an elegant contrast to the dynamic play of colors within.

The 4.77-carat rough crystal was transformed into a delicate iolite, whose impact is determined not by its size, but above all by its transparency, intense color, and brilliance.

The Iolite originates from southern Africa. The rough stone was sourced for us directly from the source through our partners, inspected by us, and then expertly cut.

To the best of our knowledge and according to information from our local partners, the gemstone is untreated.

For an additional fee, we’d be happy to arrange for a certificate from an independent gemological institute to be issued for this gemstone.

Images may vary depending on monitor settings. The videos of the stone were recorded without filters or color correction.

The true beauty of a gemstone is only revealed when you hold it in your hand. With every slight movement, the angle of the light, the reflections, and the play of colors change, giving each stone its own unique vibrancy.

Interesting Facts About Iolite

Iolite is the blue to violet-blue gemstone variety of the mineral cordierite. Its color spectrum ranges from light gray-blue through clear blue-violet to deep, intense violet-blue tones. It is characterized by its pronounced pleochroism: depending on the viewing angle, iolite can display different colors, including blue, violet, gray-blue, or slightly yellowish-gray hues. A precise cut is therefore particularly important to bring out the most beautiful color tone to its fullest potential.

Natural inclusions are characteristic features of a natural gemstone. They can provide clues about its natural origin and help distinguish it from synthetic or imitation materials. At the same time, clarity - along with color, cut, and carat weight - is one of the key factors that determine a gemstone’s quality and value.

Transparent iolites with a rich, uniform violet-blue color, high clarity, and vibrant brilliance are particularly prized. High-quality, larger specimens are relatively rare and attract particular attention from collectors and enthusiasts of unusual colored gemstones. The quality and value of an iolite depend primarily on its color, transparency, clarity, cut, and carat weight. However, future performance cannot be predicted and is always determined by quality, rarity, and demand.
